New Trailer, Images & Cameos Announced For ‘Life’s Too Short’
Posted by Claudia on August 21, 2011 under Articles with 0 comments

Fair play to Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, they seemingly pull out all the stops to get big name stars to appear in cameos on their shows. Extras had some great actors poking fun at themselves, Patrick Stewart, Daniel Radcliffe and Orlando Bloom to name but a few. Now the BBC has announced that Gervais and Merchant’s latest project, Life’s Too Short has added Liam Neeson and Helena Bonham Carter to the ever expanding cameo cast of Johnny Depp, Sting, Steve Carell, Cat Deeley, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Les Dennis, Keith Chegwin and Shaun Williamson.

Written and directed by Gervais and Merchant, Life’s Too Short is a fake documentary that revolves around Britain’s most famous showbiz dwarf, Warwick Davis (Willow). With his career on the slide, a massive tax bill caused by his useless accountant, and a wife who’s divorcing him, Warwick has no choice but to open his doors to a film crew 24/7.

There is a new funny promo out featuring Warwick in a frog suit and Ricky’s blog also had some great shots of some of the big stars that have agreed to be appear on the show in action. (Johnny Depp clearly holds no grudges over any Golden Globe jibes!) Based on what I have seen to date, it’s so far so good. I am loving how deadpan Warwick tries to be in all the promos and I think he is going to be hilarious as the star of the show. Take a look at all the new stuff we have found and if this only whets your appetite, you can see our full coverage here.

Life’s Too Short will start a seven episode run in the UK later this year before arriving on HBO in early 2012.

Helena Bonham Carter joins Gervais show
Posted by Claudia on August 19, 2011 under News & Rumors with 0 comments

Helena Bonham Carter is to be among the guests in Ricky Gervais’s new BBC sitcom.

The Oscar-nominated star – who was up for the best supporting actress prize for her role in The King’s Speech – has been added to the line-up for the funnyman’s BBC2 series Life’s Too Short.

Also newly cast in the programme about a dwarf, played by Warwick Davis, is Liam Neeson.

Ricky has also persuaded leading names such as Johnny Depp, Steve Carrell and Sting to appear in the show, which is written and directed by Ricky and Stephen Merchant.

Life’s Too Short is a fake documentary following the daily life of an actor – played by Warwick – who runs a talent agency for fellow dwarves but nabs the best jobs for himself.

Ricky has said of the seven-part show, which launches on BBC2 in October: “If Warwick Davis isn’t the comedy sensation of next year, I’ll eat Johnny Depp’s hat.”

The Lone Ranger Production Halted
Posted by Claudia on August 15, 2011 under News & Rumors with 0 comments

Disney has halted production on The Lone Ranger.

The movie was set to begin filming this October for a summer 2012 release but budget issues have caused Disney to halt proceedings.

It’s believed that Disney wanted the movie to cost $200 million but the Gore Verbinski directed movie has exceeded that figure.

The film had brought together an impressive cast as Armie Hammer was set to play the title character while Johnny Depp was to play Tonto.

Supporting cast included British actresses Helena Bonham Carter and Ruth Wilson while Barry Pepper and The Pacific star James Badge Dale were also on the cast list.

The movie would have reunited Depp with his Pirates of the Caribbean director Verbinski – they worked together earlier this year on animation movie Rango.

It’s believed that Disney have already shelled out $250 million and $200 million for projects John Carter and Oz The Great and Powerful.

Whether the movie will eventually go ahead is uncertain as there was talk of a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Depp is currently working on Dark Shadows and will be back on the big screen at the end of the year with The Rum Diary.
